In the middle of the square there is a fountain that is specifically made out with a single stone block. A few meters away, there is also Saint Peter’s Cathedral, which evokes the colonial style since the time it was first built.
Every Sunday, there is a Sunday Fair which sells typical things of the locality, from food to crafts. We also have the monument dedicated to José María Arguedas, who was born in Andahuaylas and is the especially recognized for his intimate portrayals of indigenous Andean culture.
Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cocharcas
This building houses Our Lady of Cocharcas. It is one of the most beautiful religious structures of the Andes. It is highly recommended to travel on September, since the feast of Our Lady of Cocharcas is celebrated on this month.
